Inclement Weather Policy

1) General: If Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools close for inclement weather then so does CFMA for the first TWO consecutive days that Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools are closed for an inclement weather incident.  After that, we take it on a day by day basis.  In that situation, we will make the decision by 10:00 am on the third consecutive day as to whether we will be open that day or not and that decision will be final, and we will not backtrack on the 10 am decision even if conditions improve. Our staff needs to know how they should plan for the remainder of the day. That is only fair.  We will put a notice on Facebook (please “like” us on Facebook), we will send email notification (please signup above) and we will put a notice on voicemail. If we are closed then the voice mail will say that we are NOT open.

2)  Early Dismissals from Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools:  If Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools have an early dismissal due to inclement weather then CFMA will also cancel all classes for that day.

3) Canceled evening activities by Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools: If Winston-Salem/Forsyth County Schools have decided to cancel evening activities due to inclement weather then CFMA will also cancel all evening classes unless CFMA has already reopened from that particular inclement weather incident.

We appreciate all of our members remembering that our first priority is the safety of our students and staff.  Our policy is not going to be perfect every time but it gives us a system to follow so that staff and members know in a reasonable manner if we are closed or open.

PLEASE REMEMBER: After we reopen from an inclement weather closing, primary roads may appear to be fairly clear.  However: Parking lots, sidewalks, bridges and non-primary roads may not be in that same condition.  Always, proceed with caution.

DURING QUESTIONABLE WEATHER, PLEASE STAY HOME AND OFF THE ROADS IF POSSIBLE.  Stay smart and be safe.  You are important to us!

Thank you for your time,
